The problem

DaVinci Resolve doesn't support trackpad pinch-to-zoom for the timeline like other editing apps do. On a MacBook trackpad, that makes timeline zooming practically impossible without using the keyboard. Instead of a natural gesture, you're forced into Option + scroll or keyboard shortcuts.

The fix

PinchZoom intercepts your trackpad pinch gesture and translates it into the zoom command Resolve understands. It just works — like it should've from day one.

Simple. Lightweight. Invisible.

Resolve-only

Only activates when DaVinci Resolve is in the foreground. Won't touch anything else.

Zero latency

Native macOS event tap. No Electron, no overhead. Under 5MB RAM.

Adjustable sensitivity

Dial in how fast or slow you want zoom. Reverse direction if you prefer.

Menu bar app

Lives in your menu bar. Click to adjust settings, toggle on/off, or quit.

Launch at login

Set it once, forget it. PinchZoom starts automatically every time.

Privacy-first

No analytics, no tracking, no internet. Everything stays on your Mac.

Common questions

Does it work with the free version of Resolve?
Yes. PinchZoom works with both DaVinci Resolve (free) and DaVinci Resolve Studio.
Will it slow down Resolve?
No. PinchZoom is a native Swift app that uses under 5MB of RAM and virtually zero CPU. It's not Electron or Java.
Why does it need accessibility permissions?
PinchZoom reads your trackpad pinch gestures and translates them into zoom commands for Resolve. macOS requires accessibility access for this. The app never collects or transmits any data.
What macOS versions are supported?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later. Works on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Does it work with other apps?
It's built specifically for DaVinci Resolve and only activates when Resolve is the frontmost app. It won't affect anything else.

Stop fighting Resolve's zoom.

One download. One permission. Pinch-to-zoom forever.
